Promoting an incLUsive Society towards older adults with physical disabilities (PLUS)
This programme is a part of the study “Promoting an incLUsive Society towards older adults with physical disabilities through disability simulation education”.
This programme is designed by professors from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The aim of this programme is to develop positive values and attitudes towards elderly with disabilities among secondary students, to strengthen their ability in taking care of these elderly and to emphasise the importance of social inclusion.
This comprehensive programme comprises of learning sessions, service seminar, disability simulation workshop and community contact session.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this programme, students will be able to:
Describe the characteristics of an inclusive society.
Explain the importance of respect and care for people with disabilities.
Describe common daily life experiences and feelings of people with disabilities.
Use effective communication methods to communicate with people with disabilities.
Demonstrate positive behaviours in caring for people with disabilities in society.
All students will become Disability Inclusion Ambassadors for the development of an inclusive society together.
